Erin ~ I use the hard copy version of the Code with my students. The placement test just takes a couple of minutes to administer. I has so excited about your project,that I shared the resource with my principal, in hopes of purchasing some online seats for my classroom. It's great to hear of your students' successes with the online version. I too find myself wondering how a 5th grader could have made it so far in school, with such limited reading skills. It will be interesting to discover if their reading levels and reading fluency rates increase, as well. Isn't it amazing what students will do for a sticker?
Yes, the sticker motivation is incredible... especially since they've decided among themselves that getting a green sticker is somehow so much better than getting a blue sticker!
Isn't it amazing at how computer savy the studetns are? I often think I am going to have to explain something in the lab only to find out that really all I need to do is give them the place of where they need to be and they are off and running with the activity.
